A few years ago, around 2016, we noticed something interesting. The head of an agency visited our website, went through our demo with our team, and spent some time exploring our platform. Fast forward to 2024, and we see that this very agency CEO is now running a competitor to Candid – offering a very similar service to what we’ve been doing for over a decade.
While we acknowledge that competition is part of business, what struck us as curious was a recent blog post written by this very competitor (which can be found on their site: Flowbox Blog Post). The article discusses UGC platforms in great detail, yet fails to mention Candid at all – even though we’ve been around for nearly as long as the UGC movement itself.
This omission raises an important question: is this a simple oversight, or is it an attempt to rewrite the history of the UGC space? While we’ve always believed in the importance of healthy competition and the sharing of ideas, we also believe that it’s vital to acknowledge the trailblazers who helped lay the foundation. It’s one thing to innovate, but it’s another to do so without acknowledging the path that came before you.
